NYFW Spring 2013: Helmut Lang, Jason Wu, J. Crew, Juicy Couture, Jen Kao, Jenni Kayne, Lisa Perry, Mara Hoffman, Monique Lhuillier, Rag and Bone, Robert Rodriguez, See by Chloe, Sally Lapointe, Thakoon Addition, Tess Giberson, VPL

Of note: an emphasis on fabrics for interest - brocades, leather, PVC/vinyls; athletics meets urban wear; colorblocking.

Of note: Lots. of. LEATHER. Black and nude, floral motifs, lace everywhere, a limited palette.

Of note: Vibrant prep, updated classics; traditional patterns in modern, youthful colors; a ladylike heel.

I've never been a big fan of Juicy Couture, but this collection won me over. It's fun, and while not terribly inventive, it still gives a fresh feeling.

Of note: Nautical stripes and almost tacky Hawaiian shirt florals; oversized shoulder purses in vibrant colors; springtime blazers.

I'm not too pressed over this collection, except for the metallic sweater, the sunglasses, and that striped suit.

Can't you see Solange Knowles wearing some of this stuff?

Of note: Petticoat inspiration - let your lace show; light outer layers.

I'm not usually a big Chloe fan (I know, quelle horreur), but I usually can find something likable in See by Chloe. This time around, however, I found myself liking several of the looks sent down the runway.

See what I mean when I say white will be big for spring?
