I'm just saying...

Thank you!

To all of my followers, and everyone who comments on my posts, thanks! I love to hear from you all... that way, I don't feel like I'm talking to myself. :)

But seriously, thanks. You guys make my day.

(And I will get back to all of you as soon as I can.)

Two for one: Helmut Lang and Wayne F'10

Well, I put these together for a reason: similar outerwear silhouettes. I'm tempted to call this the influence of Rick Owens, but I think that may be a little too simplistic. In any case, I was pleasantly surprised by Helmut Lang. I'm generally not a big fan because the designs are too austere, but this time around, I was happy to see a color palette that included more than just black and some fabrics that beg to be touched. As for Wayne, if there were ever a collection to make me consider wearing sweats outside for more than just a quick run to Target, this would be it.
Very busy week this week. More Fashion Week posts this weekend! In the meantime, um... take a gander at my old posts?

Cynthia Steffe F'10

Highlights: Ankle straps, parkas and capes, oversized sweaters.

I'm seeing a lot of shoes with ankle straps... do what you will with that. Anyway, what tickled me about this showing was the second outfit. Except for the shoes and socks (because no one wore those in private school), that is how most girls at my school looked.

Rachel Comey F'10

Highlights: Large abstract floral print, rich leather accessories, knit scarves, batik-like tie-dye, photographic prints.

Basically, pattern is in at Rachel Comey! A definite hippie influence runs throughout the collection, lending a lightness to these pieces in a season that is often dark and heavy.

Richard Chai Love F'10

Highlights: Pinstripes, white or silver shoes, large coat lapels, plenty of layers.

I think we all know how much I love Richard Chai, sooooo moving on. What's interesting here is the way items are layered -- a cropped shirt over a regular length one, short sleeves over long. That, and some other details give this collection a "classed-up slacker" vibe.

Breaking news: Alexander McQueen dead

What a shock...I don't really know what to say. There's no denying his talent, his vision and what he has given to the fashion world. It's a shame that he's gone at such a (relatively) young age and just at the beginning of Fashion Week. He will definitely be missed at London Fashion Week, and not just because of the clothes he created. My prayers and thoughts are with his family.

Here is the BBC reportage.

MAC x Liberty of London

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh Myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy God! According to WWD, this is actually 2-month-old news. But still, I'm excited and I don't even like florals like that. But c'mon, look at this MAC x Liberty collection -- you know you're excited too. I want that nail polish badly!

Rachel Roy Pre-Fall

Highlights: Plunging necklines, shoes with cutouts, cropped length pants, pastels and neutrals.

I swear, Rachel Roy keeps getting better and better. A few years ago, on this blog, I blasted one of her collections (honestly, it was hideous). But now, I find myself looking forward to Rachel Roy's products, and this pre-fall showing was no exception. Pink knit pants? Yes, please!
